What is robot?

Robotics is an interdisciplinary branch of computer science and engineering. Robotics involves design, construction, operation, and use of robots. The goal of robotics is to design machines that can help and assist humans. 

A robot is a programmable machine that can complete a task, while the term robotics describes the field of study focused on developing robots and automation. Each robot has a different level of autonomy. These levels range from human-controlled bots that carry out tasks to fully-autonomous bots that perform tasks without any external influences. 

Why is the knowledge of Robotics important?

As an engineer student, whatever you are studying or learning, you are always going to be surrounded by robotics, directly or indirectly, you will eventually have to work with robots, no matter which field of engineering you belong to. Hence, it is important to have a deep knowledge and understanding about this field, which can help you to boost your career, giving you an extra edge over your peers.
